I'm talking those horrible slipcases that'll scratch the hell out of the discs every time you take them out. I'd rather just buy the individual seasons just to keep the discs in good condition.
I just don't get it.
EDIT: That should read "packaging?" in the thread title.

Good call.
I've been dismayed to see this nonsense carry over to some Blu-Ray sets as well.
What idiots come up with this packaging, I wonder? |

What kills me is that most people who would lay out $100-$200 for the complete run of a TV series are the kind of people who would like to keep the discs in good condition, so those horrible slipcases confuse the hell out of me. No less than HALF of the 20 discs in the complete Fraggle Rock series set were floating loose inside the badly-designed case, and were scuffed and scratched to hell. I couldn't even return the freaking thing, because it's literally impossible to find one of those sets without at least three or four discs rattling around loosely inside. I shudder to think of the inevitable complete series sets for Cheers (all eleven seasons in an oversized, novelty beer mug!) and Lost (a scale-model recreation of The Hatch!). Even the "special edition" of season one of 24 had frigging cardboard slipcases! |
